Ex-Director of Digital Platforms at Sky, Matt Grest, joins the BBC

The BBC engaged Erevena to lead the search for a Director of Platform, resulting in the successful hiring of Matt Grest.

In his new role, Matt will be leading the transformation of all digital and broadcast products. He will oversee the design, development, and delivery of a pan-BBC integrated content platform providing world-class capabilities to the BBC broadcast and online products.

I believe Matt’s experience can help us make a step-change toward our goals around platform convergence – broadcast and online, content and users – whilst bringing experience and insight about what it’s like being a user and customer of a platform. Matt is aligned with our philosophy and approach to creating a platform group with a strong sense of identity and service to the BBC; he has achieved just that at Sky, having built up a highly regarded team and established a strong and inspiring culture at a similar scale as we’re working to in D&E.”

Matthew Postgate,Chief Technology and Product Officer, BBC

Before joining, Matt headed up Digital Platforms at Sky across all business units (Sports, News, Sky.com). He also built up Sky’s Digital Hub in Leeds, which now counts several hundred team members.

Earlier in his career, Matt led software development across several industries such as financial services, health, and telecoms in a number of organisations - Yorkshire Building Society, NHS Choices (through Capita), and Plusnet.
